In 1700, he traveled to Egypt and recorded comprehensive notes, observations, and sketches on everything he saw, including monuments, people, maps, and architecture, and all of this essential information was published after his death in the book “Voyage D’Egypte et de Nubie.”
Egypt’s secrets, as well as ancient Egyptian culture and architectural and scientific achievements, continue to fascinate the whole globe. The perfection of the pyramids has fascinated us. When it comes to Egypt, the Giza plateau’s pyramids are a must-see.
On the Giza plateau, we know there are three pyramids now, but some ancient accounts indicate there was a fourth pyramid apart from the other three.
“A stone blacker than normal granite and more difficult to deal with” was used to build the fourth pyramid.
In his book, Frederic Norden explains the fourth pyramid and shows it on a map. On page 120 of the book, he wrote:
“The major pyramids lie in the east and south-east of Giza…
There are four of them, and these are the ones who get the most attention from passers-by. The two tallest pyramids, each standing 500 feet tall, are located further north. The other two are much smaller, but they have some unique qualities.”
“It is comparable to the others but does not have a covering. It does, however, have one distinguishing feature: the summit is crowned with a single huge stone that appears to have acted as a pedestal. The summit is made of a yellowish stone. It is also located to the west of the others’ lines.”
Egyptologists, historians, and scholars disagree with Norden’s theory of a fourth pyramid, stating that he mistook Menakure’s “satellite” pyramid for a fourth. The fourth pyramid, however, is shown by Norden as being built of a darker stone, and the “satellite” pyramid is composed of sandstone.
Norden’s words and drawings are extremely accurate and detailed, and he depicts the fourth black pyramid as distinct from the other three Giza pyramids. Norden also cited the Giza plateau’s additional seven or eight minor pyramids.
