A team of researchers recently discovered the ruins of an undiscovered ancient civilization in Ecuador.
The deposit was discovered near Real Alto, Ecuador, by a team of Russian, Ecuadorian, and Japanese specialists. Ceramic vessel fragments and other relics from an unknown culture date back 6,500 years.
Ecuador has an unknown civilization.
The researchers discovered the parts at a depth of 75 centimeters to one meter, according to the report, which was published in the scholarly journal Antiquity.
The pottery dates from 4640 to 4460 BC. C., which corresponds to the initial stage of the Valdivia civilization, according to a radiocarbon mass spectrometer examination. This is one of America’s earliest civilizations, and they worked with clay. His works are today iconic of Ecuador.
The latest findings, on the other hand, are the outcome of a quite different methodology. As a result, a decorative composition distinct from the Valdivian style was discovered.
San Pedro’s pottery fragments are quite comparable to other pieces discovered in the past. These were unearthed in 1980s excavations at Real Alto and other sites. None of the discoveries, however, could be linked to any recognized civilization.
As a consequence, experts think it is an undiscovered civilization from Valdivia, which originated and flourished on Ecuador’s Pacific coast.
They will strive to locate additional artifacts of this new civilization in future digs, which might help them better understand its evolution.
Is there any proof that is much older?
Archaeologists predict that even earlier pieces of pottery may be discovered.
This would tell if pottery was developed in South America at the same period as it was in other areas of the world, or whether it was imported.
The Far Eastern Federal University of Vladivostok in Russia, the SB RAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography in Russia, the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Literal in Ecuador, and Tohoku University in Japan all contributed to the discovery.
These same experts were involved in the finding of human remains dating from 6,000 to 10,000 years ago in the canton of Atahualpa.
This discovery adds to the growing body of evidence suggesting an undiscovered civilization, or a variety of other civilizations not documented in historical records, existed in various regions of the globe. Perhaps some of them are much more evolved than we realize…
